In den Jahren von 1886 bis 1911 rettete er insgesamt 480 Schiffbrüchige. Das Museum informiert auf insgesamt drei Etagen über die Geschichte der Seenotrettung. Verschiedene Kutschen, Raupenfahrzeuge und Motor-Rettungsboote werden ausgestellt. Das Motor-Rettungsboot Twenthe kann betreten werden. Der Windtunnel (bis Windstärke 10) sowie insbesondere der Nebeltunnel vermitteln sehr realistische Eindrücke der Seenotrettung. Ergänzt wird die Ausstellung durch Zubehör wie z.B. Hosenbojen, Funkgeräte verschiedenster Bauarten und 5 im Wasser liegende Motor-Rettungsboote, die zeitweilig besichtigt werden können.
