Die berreste der Villa rustica wurden 1980 bei Straßenbauarbeiten entdeckt und bis 1991 ausgegraben. Die historische Villa wurde von Ende des 1. Jahrhunderts bis um 270 von Römern bewohnt. Es gab einen Vorgängerbau aus der Mitte des 1. Jahrhunderts. Im 3. und 4. Jahrhundert diente die Anlage als Pilgerherberge und danach als Metallschmelzwerkstatt. Bei einem Erdrutsch im 5. Jahrhundert wurde das Gebäudeensemble am Fuße des Silberberges verschüttet. Dadurch blieben Teile der Villa besonders gut erhalten und blieben von Steinraub verschont. Die Villa hatte eine Nutzfläche von etwa 1.000 m und bestand aus zwei Teilen. Der eigentliche Bau der Villa war fast 60 m lang und gut 15 m breit. Darüber hinaus gab es ein großzügig angelegtes Badehaus. Beide Gebäude waren durch einen Portikus miteinander verbunden, der die ganze Frontseite des Baues einnahm. Ein Treppenhaus belegt ein zweites Stockwerk. Zahlreiche Räume waren mit Hypokausten ausgestattet, die erhalten geblieben sind. In zahlreichen Räumen fanden sich relativ gut erhaltene Reste von Wandmalereien. Auf einem Wandverputzfragment fand sich ein kurzer lateinischer Text, das als Zwiesprache zwischen einem Lehrer und seinem Schüler gedeutet wird, was auf ein gewisses Bildungsniveau der Villenbewohner schließen lässt. Die großflächig ausgegrabene Villa blieb nach der Ausgrabung erhalten und ist heute als Museum zu besichtigen. Die Gebäudereste befinden sich unter einem eigens dafür errichteten und darüber gesetzten Gebäude.
