Die „Frassmulkshöhle“
Sight / Cave
According to oral tradition, a hermit lived near Liebengrün in the 19th century. He lived in a cave in the middle of the forest in the Taubenbach part of the field, locally called Daumbach or Daumisch, not far from the Otterbach. In this wildly romantic area he had everything he needed to live - fresh air, clear water, wood for heating and peace and quiet, because the Triptis - Marxgrün railway line, which passes in the immediate vicinity of the cave, had not yet been built. Only with the food supply there were obviously some problems. He sometimes begged or ´organized´ something to eat in Liebengrün or in other surrounding towns or farmsteads, such as the Joachimsmühle. Of course, the Liebengrünern didn´t like that, although by and large they lived in peace with him. And when he begged on the Neumarkt, for example, from people who were poor themselves, then it was said ´The wor dorr frass-mulks´ or ´The old frassmulks bad schunn again dorumun battles something to eat´. It can´t have been that bad for our hermit, because the word ´Mulks´ in our dialect means a fat or fat guy. But as I said, he also had enough healthy air and fresh water. True or not? Be that as it may - we have found the - meanwhile derelict cave and marked it with a sign for posterity. And if someone walks through this idyllic landscape parallel to the railway line from Lückenmühle to the Ziemestal Bridge, if they pay a little attention they will find our marker. Our hiking tip: Liebengrün, upper village, Hike past the old brickworks in the direction of the Lückenmühle. Turn right at the edge of the forest and walk along a well-developed forest path to the railway tracks. Then 200 m the above cave is about 20 m up the slope in the forest. After about 2 km you will pass the ´Liebengrüner Bahnhof´, which strangely enough was never used as such. Arriving at the Ziemestalbrücke, you can turn left to the ruins of the ´Wysburg´ or turn right up the valley along the Ziemesbach to Liebengrün. Length: approx. 10 km easy hiking terrain. which strangely enough was never used as such.
