Brömserburg
Sight / Castle
The Brömserburg, also known as Niederburg, is one of the oldest castles in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley and is located in Rüdesheim am Rhein in the Rheingau. The history of the Brömserburg encompasses an exciting development since the 10th century, when it was built as a fortress in a strategically important location. Over the centuries it changed hands several times and served, among other things, as the seat of the knight Werner von Bolanden and later as a customs station. Today the Brömserburg houses the Rheingau Wine Museum, where you can find out about Germany´s thousand-year history of winemaking.
