Castillo de La Calahorra

The Castillo de La Calahorra was built between 1509 and 1512 and is considered one of the first Italian Renaissance castles outside of Italy. The castle is a national monument and is privately owned, but can be visited after contacting the person in charge. The castle has a beautiful courtyard with arcades and a fountain designed by Italian builders with Carrara marble. The castle is usually open to visitors on Wednesdays, but it may be possible to arrange additional visits on other days.
