Aussichtsturm Monte San Salvatore
Sight / observation tower
The Monte San Salvatore observation tower offers breathtaking views of Lugano, Lake Lugano, Lombardy and the Alps. From the mountain station you can reach the summit of San Salvatore in around a quarter of an hour on foot. The observation tower has a viewing platform at a height of 12.5 meters, from which you can enjoy a view over Lake Lugano, Lugano and the Italian exclave of Campione.
There are various hiking options on the San Salvatore, and the on-site museum displays fossils and rocks from the region. Signposted mountain hiking trails also lead, for example, to Melide (2 hours and 10 minutes) or to Morcote (3 hours and 35 minutes).
Monte San Salvatore is a sensational mountain with panoramic views that gives you a warm feeling of “arrival” when you let your gaze wander over the turquoise-blue expanse of Lake Lugano in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
The funicular to San Salvatore starts in Paradiso, a suburb of Lugano, and takes twelve minutes to get to the mountain station. From the terminus you can reach the observation tower in about five minutes
