The Museum of German Inland Shipping is located in Duisburg, Germany. It was founded in 1974 and is located in the Ruhrort district, the nucleus of the Duisburg-Ruhrort ports, which form the largest European inland port complex. The museum tells the history of inland shipping from the Stone Age to the present and offers visitors a variety of exhibits and detailed models. It covers topics such as the social, economic and technical history of inland shipping, the life and work of people on board and in the ports, the working conditions of shipyard workers and the techniques of shipbuilding.
The Museum of German Inland Shipping is closely linked to the port city of Duisburg and the largest inland port in the world. It also houses several museum ships, including the last sidewheel tug steamer from the Rhine, the bucket brigade steam dredger Minden and the crane ship Fendel 147 30.09.2012: Worthwhile exhibition for children that are held here with a question and answer game in a good mood and are finally rewarded with a ´diploma´. | The exhibition also includes two museum ships in port. @ Admission is free with the RUHR.TOPCARD.
