Burgruine Kallmünz
Castle / Ruins
1255 first mention as a Bavarian property. 1271 Hugo von Kallmünz 1344 Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian pledges the castle to Regensburg, later to Thuringia and then to the Palatinate. 1459 it is triggered again by the Upper Bavarians. 1504 is set on fire in the Landshut War of Succession. Kallmünz falls to the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg. During the Thirty Years´ War, the repaired castle was destroyed again and has remained a ruin ever since. End of the 19th century the stock is secured, before that it was a quarry. Several footpaths lead up to the castle. In the summer months, a castle cafe opens from 1 p.m. Only then can the wonderful view from the castle keep be enjoyed.
