Den höchsten Punkt bildet das Sljeme. Die Medvednica ist ein sehr beliebtes Naherholungsziel der Bevölkerung von Zagreb, da es vom Zentrum aus innerhalb kürzester Zeit zu erreichen ist. Eine direkte bersetzung des Namens wäre in etwa der Bärenberg. (Bär entspricht dem kroatischen medvjed).
