Es ist die Heimat des spanischen Erstligisten FC Sevilla und fasst zur Zeit 45.500 Zuschauer. Das Stadion wurde ab 1956 erbaut und am 7. September 1957 eröffnet. Es ist nach Ramn S¡nchez Pizju¡n benannt, der von 1932 bis 1942 und von 1943 bis 1956 Präsident des FC Sevilla war. Das Stadion wurde zuletzt 1997 renoviert. Die wichtigsten internationalen Spiele im Estadio Ramn S¡nchez Pizju¡n waren das Halbfinale der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 1982 zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich (Nacht von Sevilla) und das Finale des Europapokals der Landesmeister 1986 zwischen Steaua Bukarest und dem FC Barcelona.
