Sie ist eines der Wahrzeichen der belgischen Hauptstadt Brüssel. Die 61 Zentimeter hohe Bronzestatue an der Ecke Rue de lEtuve und Rue des Grands Carmes wurde 1619 vom Brüsseler Bildhauer Hieronimus Duquesnoy geschaffen. Die Figur wurde mehrfach gestohlen, die heutige Statue ist eine Kopie aus dem Jahr 1965. Das Original wird im Maison du Roi aufbewahrt. Ein Text aus dem Jahr 1388 aus dem Archiv der Brüsseler Kathedrale erwähnt bereits eine kleine steinerne Statue namens Julianekensborre an einem Brunnen Ecke Rue de lEtuve und Rue du Chne. Zu dieser Zeit existierten in Brüssel sehr viele solcher Brunnen, die die Stadt mit Trinkwasser versorgten. Der Name Manneken Pis taucht erstmals um 1450 in Texten des Brüsseler Stadtarchivs auf.
