Wanderung zum Fosselvfossen
Tour / hiking / bike / ski / Hiking
Looking east from the Reasnjarga Peninsula across the Straumfjorden, when the weather is nice, in the mountains opposite, about four to five kilometers away as the crow flies, you will discover a large waterfall next to a snowfield from last winter, which cannot be seen from the mountains as is usually the case Stone to stone rushes down the rocks, but shoots in a high arc in free fall over a cliff. It is the Fosselvfossen, so the waterfall of the waterfall river. This impressive sight makes you curious to take a closer look at the parabola formed out of water.
The starting point of the tour is on the E6 at the Fosselv-Camping campsite and can therefore be reached without detours on the way to or from the North Cape. Either you stay overnight directly on this site or you use the small hiking car park, a maximum of 3 mobile homes, directly on the E6 opposite the entrance to the campsite. At the edge of the parking lot, a 2 km long hiking trail to the waterfall begins, which is marked but not signposted. First you walk uphill on a narrow road through a light birch forest, between whose black and white trunks the bells of grazing sheep ring out. After about 400 meters, the path turns into a footpath, becomes steeper and the birch trees, which are getting smaller, move closer and closer together. On the left you can always hear a clear murmur of the Fosselven, which flows steeply downhill here and already lives up to its name as a waterfall river. After only 800 meters the forest thins out and 300 meters further you have reached the tree line. There is a magnificent view of the Straumfjorden and the Reasnjarga peninsula behind. To the right, the view extends to the Reisafjorden and the islands of Kågen and Laukøya. From now on you always have the waterfall in mind. The path runs through grassy terrain, initially overgrown with blueberry bushes, and ends at about 280 meters above sea level at a wooden viewing bench. Anyone who wants to get a little closer to Fosselvfossen can scramble along numerous footprints along the steep meadow slope until the gigantic parabola of water and spray falls past the viewer with a total drop of 64 meters.
