Målselvfossen can be reached after 3 kilometers via dead-end road Fv 175, which branches off national road 87 to the north. With a length of about 600 meters and three drops with a total height of about 22 meters, it is one of the mightiest rapids in Norway, whereby it is not the height of the fall that leaves a lasting impression, but the impressive amount of water in the Målselven. Around 90,000 visitors come every year to marvel at these water masses. You can park at the foot of the waterfall in a paid parking lot by the Målselvfossen holiday center. From there, a developed visitor path leads along the waterfall. Right next to it is a 450 meter long salmon ladder, which is supposed to make it easier for the salmon to get into the upper reaches of Målselven. The Målselvfossen, Also known as Norway´s national waterfall, it also has the longest salmon ladder in Europe. Only a few visitors seem to be able to admire the salmon swimming by through the attached glass pane in the upper reaches of the canal, which was carved into the rock more than 100 years ago.
