De Groote Peel
Sight / Landscape
De Groote Peel is a raised bog area that has been designated as a Dutch national park since 1993. Many species of birds live in the moorland and the adjacent extensive water areas, which were created by earlier peat extraction, and can be observed from sheltered huts and towers. At the southern edge of the area there is a visitor center with sufficient parking space, from which the edge of the moor area can be accessed via stick dam paths, while the actual moor center is closed to visitors.
