Durdle Door
Sight / Landscape
Durdle Door is one of the most photographed attractions along the Jurassic Coast. The Rock Gate in the Sea was formed as a result of the leaching of the softer rock ³#8203|³#8203|, which was detached from the harder limestone and ³#8203|³#8203|carved out. The name Durdle is derived from an Old English word ´thirl´ meaning bore or to drill. Each year more than 200,000 walkers use the footpath between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Below the rocks lies an expansive beach. In summer a mobile kiosk provides ice cream and refreshments on the way to Durdle Door.
