The Villedubert lock is located in the Occitanie region of France. It is part of the Canal du Midi and is also known as the Fonseranes lock staircase. The Fonseranes lock staircase is a historical and engineering masterpiece, built by Pierre-Paul Riquet in the 17th century. It consists of eight oval chambers and nine swing gates, with which boats can overcome a total height difference of 21.5 meters. The lock staircase is classified as a monument historique and is one of the most visited attractions in the city of Béziers near Trèbes.
