10.1.1.1 Der Runenstein von Järsberg
Sight / excavation
In the middle of a field near Kristinehamn there is a stone more than 2 meters high with an inscription that is said to be more than 1500 years old. It is one of the oldest rune stones in Sweden that have been found so far. The inscription is a mystery and has not yet been clearly translated. The stone was excavated from the earth of the mound in 1862, where it still stands today. From the connecting road between Visnum-kilsvägen and road no. 26, a narrow footpath leads across the field to this hill.
