Soomaa-Nationalpark
Park / Nature park
The Soomaa National Park was only established in 1993 and is a raised bog area of approximately 390 square kilometers. The area is accessible to tourists from various points. Parts of the park can be explored on foot via wooden plank paths, a lookout tower and wooden platforms at five to seven meter deep bog holes. Ladders have been let down at the bog holes, which also make it possible to bathe in the black-brown bog water. In the spring, the park is usually not accessible because it is flooded for weeks by the water from the snowmelt. Rivers and ditches running through the park also make it possible to explore from the water. There are canoe stations in various places where you can rent boats.
