16.07.2014: In 1207, Guy de Thouars began the construction of a castle, to which the center of Nantes surrounding adjacent walls.. It is surrounded by seven massive towers that are connected by a 500m long wall walk. @ The daughter of Anne de Bretagne, later Queen, the fortifications left by a bastion for the artillery, reinforce the Tour du Fer à Cheval. @ Logis du Roy, now called Petit province, was built by Claude de France after her marriage with King Francis I in 1515.. Through the union of Brittany and France, the castle was royal property in 1532.. Now it served as the residence of the French kings in Brittany. @ In the 16th and 17th centuries it was expanded. @ The Grand Gouvernement burned from 1670, King Louis XIV had it built back in the style of classical baroque.
